5 Homemade Seasoning Blends

When I saw that our taco spice jar was empty, I saw it as an opportunity to make some fresh batches of seasonings.

In fact, whenever I’m making one homemade seasoning mix, I like to take advantage of having all the spices out and create a few more blends at once. It saves time and ensures that I have a variety of flavors ready for future meals.

If you’re interested in making your own seasoning blends, we five delicious homemade mixes to share with you today.

Let’s get started!

Recipe 1: Taco Seasoning

We’ll begin with our taco seasoning recipe:

  • 1/2 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 cup onion powder
  • 2 Tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons salt (you can use any kind)
  • 1 Tablespoon black pepper

Mix all these ingredients together thoroughly using a whisk or spoon until well combined. This recipe yields a little less than a pint jar.

Recipe 2: Beef Stew Seasoning

For our second recipe, beef stew seasoning:

  • 1 cup flour (this will help thicken the stew)
  • 3 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Basil
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon celery seed

Combine all these ingredients & store in a pint jar. Use 2-3 Tbs per pound of meat. 🙂

Recipe 3: Sausage Seasoning

Our third recipe is an aromatic sausage seasoning:

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • A scant 1/2 cup pepper
  • 1/2 cup dried sage (rubbed)
  • 1/2 cup dried basil
  • 1/4 cup onion powder
  • 2 Tablespoons marjoram

Mix all the ingredients together until well combined and transfer to a pint jar.

Recipe 4: Garlic Onion Salt

If you love the flavors of garlic and onion, our fourth recipe is for you.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup onion powder

Combine these three simple ingredients thoroughly, and store in a half-pint jar.

Recipe 5: Homemade Seasoned Salt

Last but not least, we have our own version of seasoned salt.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 Tablespoons paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Mix all these ingredients together until well blended. This recipe yields half a pint.
