Cranberry Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies [Jar mix]

This cranberry oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe is our absolute favorite. The dried cranberries complement the chocolate chips in a delicious way.

This cookie mix can be prepped ahead of time and stored in a Mason jar for fast cookies when the craving strikes. In fact, we “meal prep” several jars at a time once a month. No more store-bought cookie dough!

Tips for Making Dried Cranberry Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies

Boy is that recipe title a mouthful … a tantalizingly delicious mouthful. 😉

In the past, I’ve forgotten to set out the butter to soften. In an effort to make the cookies fast, I melted the butter on the stovetop. When I poured it over the cookie mix, it melted the chocolate chips.

The result wasn’t terrible by any means, but it did transform the cookies into an entirely different sort.

So, I highly recommend only using softened butter—not melted butter. I still forget to set out butter from time to time.

If you find yourself in that same situation, you can melt the butter over heat, but allow it to sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. It will resolidify into “softened” butter.

Enjoy!

This cranberry oatmeal "cookie mix in a jar" is a quick way to satisfy a sweet tooth.

  • Total Time: 22 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

To Make the Cookie Mix in a Jar

  1. Layer all of the dry ingredients in a jar. Store until ready for use. Do not vacuum seal (because it will cause the brown sugar to harden).

To Make the Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Beat the softened butter with 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  3. Mix in the contents of your jar.
  4. Bake for 12 minutes. Do not overbake!

    Notes

You can use whole rolled oats instead of "quick" oats. Just pulse them in a blender or food processor to break them up a bit.
