Burger salad bowl

Cheeseburger Salad Bowl

I’ll be honest—there are nights when I want the flavors of a big, juicy cheeseburger without the heaviness that comes after. This salad bowl solves that problem beautifully.

It has everything you crave: seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, crispy lettuce, tangy pickles, and that special sauce that makes you want to lick the bowl.

But instead of leaving you in a food coma, you actually feel good after eating it.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

You can prep the components ahead and store them separately, which means lunch is sorted for the next few days.

The salad stays crisp, the beef reheats perfectly, and you get to feel like you meal-prepped without spending your whole Sunday in the kitchen.

It’s also incredibly flexible. Swap the ground beef for turkey or plant-based crumbles. Add bacon. Throw in some avocado. Make it spicier with jalapeños or keep it mild for the kids. The blueprint is here, but you can make it your own.

Ingredients

For the beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 works best)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the special sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

For the salad:

  • 6 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1 cup croutons (optional)

Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a wooden spoon.

Season the beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and cooked through.

While the beef cooks, make the special sauce by whisking together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Divide the chopped romaine lettuce among four bowls. This is your base.

Top each bowl with a portion of the cooked ground beef while it’s still warm. The heat will slightly wilt the lettuce and start melting the cheese.

Add the cherry tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, red onion, and pickles to each bowl. Sprinkle croutons on top if you’re using them.

Drizzle the special sauce generously over each bowl. Serve immediately and let everyone mix their bowl to their liking.
