Reverse engineering is the idea of starting at the end goal and working backward to identify your steps and starting point.
When it comes to growing and preserving food, the end point is the meal we serveāso that’s where we need to start.
For this lesson, we will look at one of my family’s favorite meals and dissect it to identify what (and how much) we need to grow and preserve to serve that meal every 2 weeks for a year.
If one of your goals is to gain a realistic idea of what your family eats in a year, I recommend that you select 14 meals (a 2-week meal plan) and reverse engineer them using the strategy taught below:
