Easy Spanish Rice Skillet

This Spanish rice is a one-pot dish cooked up in your skillet using mostly ingredients from your pantry. If you use canned ground beef, you can make it 100% shelf stable!

  • Total Time: 55 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey, browned
  • 1 tablespoon of homemade sausage seasoning (see notes below)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried chopped onions
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can green beans, drained
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup rice

Instructions

  1. Brown your meat, drain, and season with the homemade sausage seasoning (or seasonings of choice).
  2. Add all remaining ingredients, and stir well.
  3. Cook until bubbling, then lower to a very low simmer.
  4. Cover with a lid, and cook for 40 minutes. (Don't lift the lid or stir during this time.)
  5. Enjoy!

Notes

If you would like to make the sausage seasoning, here is the bulk-sized recipe for a quart jar:

  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 1 cup pepper
  • 1 cup sage
  • 1 cup basil
  • 1/2 cup onion powder
  • 1/4 cup marjoram
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Cook Time: 40 minutes
